The National Animal Welfare Statistics Dashboard provides aggregate data on the total number of dogs and cats entering and leaving organizations across the country. These national estimates are created using collected data from over 6,000 organizations from 2016-2023. For more information on the estimation process, click here.

Community Intakes = CI
Stray = STR
Relinquished by Owners = OS
Other intakes = OI
Total Outcomes = TO
Community Live Outcomes = CLO
Non-Live Outcomes = NLO
Adoptions = ADO
Return to Field = RTF
Return to Owner =RTO
Other Live = OLO
Lost in Care = LIC
Died in Care = DIC
Euthanized = EUT
